Kitting is a service we provide in which individually separate, but related items for a part or assembly, are grouped, packaged, and supplied to our customers as one unit. Kitting eliminates the inherent inaccuracies of maintaining on-hand inventories for high-volume assemblies. Improperly maintaining these inventories can lead to downtime and missed deadlines.
At Hewes, we will gather all of the parts necessary for a customer's particular part or assembly and prepare them in individual kits. Thus, a customer is supplied with each assembly's parts as a unit and with the correct inventory for the entire job. Because our kitting service is delivered just in time (JIT) turnaround, customers realize cost savings in reduced inventory, reduced manpower to sort parts, and reduced space requirements for cell or lean manufacturing processes.
